I was deeply saddened when I learned of Delbert’s passing. He was a real gem to so many hear in the metro Detroit area as I’m sure he was to the friend’s and family that knew him and loved him in his home town. I remember when Delbert and his lovely wife Pauline came to visit us here in Michigan. Of all the Diamond’s ever found in his home state, Delbert was the biggest and bright’est ever. He was a true southern gentleman inside and out. I’m sending prayers to Delbert’s family. God’s speed to you all. He will truly be loved, missed and admired by all that had that good fortune to know him.

    Dear Pauline and Harris family,

I had the honor of meeting you, Delbert, your son and daughter-in-law several years ago when you attended the WRIF anniversary celebration here in Detroit. What a class act your husband was and you the doting and attentive wife. My stomach hurt from laughing so hard during each one of his interviews with Drew and Mike! What a tremendous loss for all who knew and loved him. Forever in our hearts and each and everyone of you in our prayers. Kind regards, Colin

I am so sorry for your loss. He sounded like a great person. I heard him here in Michigan on WRIF quite a few years ago. He sounded exactly like a relative of mine who was a substitute grandpa for me growing up. I swear they could have been twins. They sounded like they had a spirited take on life and so lovable and cheeky. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family

Sorry to hear for your loss. My co-workers enjoyed Delberts views shared on the radio show “Drew and Mike” from Detroit. We often repeated the frequent sayings Delbert would say. What started out as a comedy bit turned out to be some kind of admiration of his lifestyle. We often would ask what become of Delbert because of his absents from the show, only to have Drew announce on” ironically their last broadcast on the air” that he was having troblems with hearing and such. Would have loved to hear from him one last time! Once again my deepest sympathy goes out to you Pauline and your family at this time of sorrow. He will be truely missed but never ever forgoten!

Also from the Detroit Metro area, I too spent many a mornings laughing with Delbert as he shared his interests and views. My grandfolks were from Arkansas, where I would spend summers visiting them. Delbert brought back a good many fond memories of youthful days gone by. Thoughts and prayers to Pauline and Harris family, a family larger than you cannot imagine.

I just now heard about Delbert’s passing. My condolences to his family and friends. Never met the man, but felt like I knew him from the many times he was on the Drew and Mike show. On their last show in may they said Delbert wasn’t in good health and having heard nothing more on him, I googled his name and was brought here. Do sad to hear of his passing and do late. He said it like it was whether you liked it or not. And more often than not I agreed with him. Need more men like him in the world.
