Oak Ridge, Tenn.- Harold Russell Standefer, 79, passed away, Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home.

  He was born June 27, 1933 in Jonesboro to the late Clarence Raymond Standefer and Berdie Mae Dalton Standefer.

  Mr. Standefer retired from Lockheed Martin where he was an architectural engineer.  He was a long-time member of Highland View Church of Christ and was always active in church activities.  He enjoyed his church family, playing golf and stamp collecting; was an avid reader and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed going to the Methodist Medical Center Cardiac Rehab Center.

    He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Carolyn Gray Standefer, May 19, 2011 and toddler daughter, Cathy Lynn Standefer, March 15, 1958.

   He is survived by daughters, Jana Hudspeth and husband Charles of Brookland, Jo Standefer of Oak Ridge and Jill Gardner and husband Noel of Johnson City; son, Russell Gray Standefer of Oak Ridge; three sisters, Minnie Lee Beasley, Virginia Langston and husband Bill and Sharon DeLoach and husband Harvey, all of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Darby Hudspeth, Tabitha Hudspeth and Kayla Sullins, all of Brookland and Sydney, Nick and Lauren Gardner, all of Johnson City; great-grandson, Tripp Sullins and friend Anita Owens of Oak Ridge.

   The family received friends Friday, March 8, 2013 from 6 – 8 pm at Highland View Church of Christ.  The funeral followed at 8 pm with Curtis McClane officiating. 

  Honorary pallbearers will be Herb Mowery, Jay Woods, Charles Mayberry, Walker Smith, Tom Goodpasture, Nick Gardner, Noel Gardner, and Russell Standefer. 

   A graveside service will be Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2pm at McDaniel Cemetery in Jonesboro with Jimmy Adcox officiating under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

    Dear Russell and family,

    I was saddened to hear of the death of your dad. Both of my parents are gone, now, too, so I sympathize with you. Didn’t know if you knew, but your cousin, Cheryl, is our bookkeeper here in Jonesboro. Again, I’m sorry for your loss. I’ll be praying for comfort for you.
